More About Peter

“It’s all about leveling the playing field,” is how Peter Forcey, a native New Yorker in all possible ways, looks at New York City real estate. “I partnered
with Weichert Properties because of its resources, reach, and reputation; these all allow me to leverage my skills in the best possible ways, leveling the
playing field and providing my clients with a critical advantage.”

Peter is a member of NAR (National Association of Realtors), LIBOR (Long Island Board of Real Estate MLS), and REBNY, the Real Estate Board of New
York, and holds the REBNY CBR (Certified Buyer Representative) and CNE (Certified Negotiation Expert) certifications. Born at New York Hospital and raised on the Upper East Side, Peter is a graduate of New York University. He remembers that, “at NYU, my favorite course was The Real Estate History of New York City, because, each week, the professor would take us to a different neighborhood and highlight specific buildings, their history, value, and impact on the neighborhood. This led me to become licensed as a New York City Tour Guide, laying the foundation for my careers in mortgages and real estate. I continue to apply these skills with all of my clients, whether they are purchasing their first co-op or a twelve million dollar amenity-filled new development condominium. He adds, “there’s more to it than just how close the nearest subway station is or if the building has a doorman, it is the neighborhood, and the building itself, that will become their new front yard.”

Negotiation, financing, and pricing are among Peter’s chief skills. He explains that “a real estate purchase is a significant life-milestone, and what’s essential
is having expert real-time guidance, as you likely will have to live with the decision you make for a very long time. My job is to guide and protect each client, ensuring that each buyer gets the best possible price and that each seller does not leave money on the table. Above all, my job is to ensure confidence as they make these big life and investment decisions.”

Before he moved into real estate, Peter worked in mortgages. He continues, “to say that New York City real estate is complex is a vast understatement.
Co-ops, condos, new development, all of these have different regulations and rules and price structures. Navigating these rules and addressing everything that the owners, property managers, sponsors, co-op boards, and banks throw at you, typically in a competitive environment, requires a deep understanding of financing, market conditions, and building and neighborhood specifics. It’s complicated, but it doesn’t have to be.”

When asked what he does when he has time beyond real estate, he answers quickly, saying, “biking, reading and bulldogs, not necessarily in that order.” An avid cyclist, he spent one summer riding his bicycle across the country, continues cycling in the City, and has completed the Five-Borough Bike Tour twice. Peter’s bookshelves are filled with books about real estate and New York City. He concludes by saying, “every day, as I work with clients, I get to help them find their new home and discover New York for themselves, essentially sharing my home with each and every one of them.”
